Οι πρεσαριστοί ακροδέκτες και ακροχιτώνια είναι πολύ χρήσιμοι για τον τερματισμό πολύκλωνων αγωγών, καθώς δίνουν περισσότερες δυνατότητες διασύνδεσης με κλέμες και άλλα ραγουλικά, ενώ παράλληλα δημιουργούν πολύ αξιόπιστες ηλεκτρικές συνδέσεις, και προστατεύουν τους λεπτούς κλώνους του αγωγού απο οξείδωση.
Όμως για να εκμεταλλευτούμε πλήρως όλα αυτά τα πλεονεκτήματα, οι ακροδέκτες πρέπει να τοποθετηθούν με συγκεκριμένο τρόπο, ειδάλλως τα αποτελέσματα μπορεί να είναι χειρότερα απο το να χρησιμοποιούσαμε απευθείας τη γυμνή άκρη του πολύκλωνου αγωγού.
